Orcad Layout ver 7 to 10 drill symbols and hyperlynx

when opening ver 7 in orcad 10 the drill symbols are missing?

doing a clean, then save, re-open with ver 7, and symbols in drill
chart return.

would like to use 10 to create gerbers, but drill gerber has no
symbols.

Second problem is creating hyperlynx output.

most boards go through, a few just report an error.
have done numerous comparisons - in min files, deleting components.
not getting anywhere fast.

Orcad changed the database format in Layout when going from version 7
to 9. They said 9 could read 7 without problem. They lie. There are
differences. If you go thru all your spreadsheets, you will find
little errors. Be sure to check your thermal settings, I remember this
as a problem. You can also try running your file thru UPDATE90.exe
<http://www.orcadpcb.com/downloads/product/Update90.zip>. This might
take your version 7 file and make it more compatible with versions 9.2
and 10. You can use version 10 files in Layout 9 and vice versa. Be
sure you have the latest service pack for version 10 as the original
release is almost unusable except for DRC. If you still have no drill
symbols, try editing the drill spreadsheet by hand. You have to edit
the drill spreadsheet in version 9.2 after an ECO update since the
drill chart is made invalid. Don't know if they fixed that in version
10.

may sound ridiculous but find ver7 much easier for editing and
routing tracks. Mostly manual with high speed and matched
impedance.

ran into a rare missing via in 7, so use 9.0 for gerber output.

10.0 build 17 added the clean/purge function plus a pic-n-place
output.

Maybe sp1 would fix 10? no drill symbols appear with any
existing board on screen or with gerber output.

present solution, work in 7, gerbers in 9, reports in 10 as weird
as all this sounds.

version 7 had no hyperlynx export, will have to note error code,
for the 5% of boards that do not go through.
