Op amp problem

So I'm using an lm358 op amp as an inverting amplifier and for whatever reason I'm not getting anywhere close to the results I'm looking for. I have calculated the gain to be -10 with an input voltage of 1 volt. And a 15 volt power supply on the power inputs. Im getting an output voltage of around 160 mV with a clipped off negative sine wave on my scope. I am baffled by this.

I would say that without at least, some circuit drawing with details, most others here will be also.

So at 1V the output should be -10V. How do expect to get that when the power is a single ended 15V?

You need dual supplies to get negative voltages out.

Need a sketch of some sort to determine what you have done.

I'M absolutely with Bob.

Note that the output of the LM358 can go to the negative rail (V-), but is limited to the positive rail (V+) -1.5 V.
