Older Panasonic Phone

i have a Panasonic cordless phone, the base unit can handle up to 6 handsets. So i buy a handset on eBay and it is registered as handset 3. I already have one that is registered as 3. When i try to register it, it wont register because only one #3 can be setup. I need to find out if i can change the registered # to 1 or 2. its a kx-tga931t

thank you, but i know how to register and deregister my handsets. What i don't know how to do is to change the permanent registration number assigned to the phone. ie hand set #3. If you have four handsets and two of them are recognized or assigned #3. Once you register #3 you cant register another #3. I know there is a way to do it but i dont know the proper steps.
