Hello all,

I am looking for a little assistance in sourcing a replacement potentiometer for a synthesizer. This is the master volume pot for an Ensoniq Fizmo. I have included some pictures below.

From the marking I am assuming it is a 10k linear taper. I had been trying to identify the manufacturer from the symbol but so far no such luck. I've been all over google and mouser trying to find a match but I'm pretty rusty at sourcing these days. The synth itself was produced somewhere around 1998-2000. The moving part of the shaft looks to be 15mm.

If someone could help me out here or at least point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it! This has been on my to-do list far too long and now that I have it removed I'm looking to get it replaced ASAP.

Thanks

Looks like your standard vertical PC mount pot, ALPs makes a bunch in the form factor, as do other companies...

Mouser or Digikey should pop one in no time once you take a few physical measurements that you can verify with the datasheets...

Something like this...

http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Bourns/PTV09A-4015F-B103/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMukHu%252bjC5l7YZH869io2NdfvHRXx5ySQjc%3d

*** Edit just saw you want a volume one, the above is linear but I'm 99.9% certain they make a audio taper version of the same one if not I'm 100% certain other manufactures make audio ones in the same size...

Thanks a lot CocaCola! I finally got a chance to look at the data sheets and do some measurements and it looks like this is a match. As far as linear vs log goes I'm going to stick with the linear since that is what the markings on the one I removed show. I'll test the old one if I can to verify.

I'll follow up here when the job is done just in case someone else is searching for the same thing in the future. It is probably the second most common problem with this particular synth but there are no clear documented fixes that I could find, so it would be nice to save some trouble to anyone else facing this issue.

After that I think I'll be touching up on my sourcing skills...

The one I linked had a 30mm shaft, there are 15mm or 20mm ones out there as well, or you can trim it if necessary since that one is plastic...

Posterity post here,

I ordered the pot in the link above and it was a perfect fit and the shaft was the correct length. Perhaps I was incorrect in stating the shaft was 15mm if the measurement is actually taken from the base of the pot (see data sheet measurement LM1) as I'm a bit ignorant on such things.

Anyway I'm back in business and I no longer need to have a rubber band holding the volume pot just right in order to get sound. Thanks again!
