Magnavox TV won't turn off, then won't turn on

Is this a common failure mode for a Magnavox 25" TV? (Chassis number at
another location, sorry.)

It "magically" turned itself on, and wouldn't turn off, either with the
remote or at the set. After being unplugged and re-plugged, it won't turn
on, with the remote or at the set.

Regular email replies won't work, but the address described in the sig will.

Sounds like the common liquid damage to the front buttons or ir sensor from
some careless person cleaning the glass.

What we need here is any kind of a "hint" as to what television you
have.....
Year built
Model number
Chassis number
When you reply with the above information be certain to include your initial
troubleshooting and testing results. Meter readings in the PS and
elsewhere, along with any pertinent visual inspection results would also be
helpful..
For the above you will obviously need to remove the back cover of the
television, dust off your DMM, and actually do some technical
troubleshooting...... you are our eyes and ears. The more information you
provide, the better suggestions and replies you will obtain.
