Hi all -

I'm looking for a small, low-current, low-cost GPS receiver to output
NMEA0183 code in an embedded, handheld application.

I've found three different solutions. The first two are from Laipac
(www.laipac.com) which produces both the TF30 and the UV40 modules. These
are pretty nice in that they are very small (the TF30 is about 1.2" x 1.6" x
0.25"; the UV40 is about 0.9" x 1" x 0.25") and use very little power (they
both state about 200mW at 3.3V, not counting the antenna power). Both the
TF30 and UV40 are offered through SparkFun Electronics (www.sparkfun.com),
where they are offered for $78.95 and $81.95, respectively.

The last solution is the Lassen SQ module. This module is about 1" x 1" x
0.25" and runs on about 110mW (143mW with antenna) at 3.3V. This module is
available through Diamond Point (www.dpie.com) but they didn't specify the
cost of the unit.

Does anyone have experience with any of these units? Does anyone know the
cost or availability of the Lassen SQ unit?

Is there a better solution available?

Thanks.

Dave

Call them and keep googling. Maybe someone else knows more, but...

I kinda remember seeing another attractive deal, so keep looking.
