I am working on a project in which i want to replace the conventional MRI machines to a low-cost MRI machine using low power electro-magnets and non-linear image processing. If any of you guys have expertise in this domain please comment on the feasibility and scope of project.

Well, if you can find a way to replace the superconducting electromagnet with something smaller and cheaper, go for it.

You apparently need a magnetic field of between 0.5 and 2 Tesla (5000 to 20,000 Gauss).

Magnets up to 4 T are approved for patient scanning, with research machines up to 20 T.

Should just be able to order some of those magnets cheap from China, right?
