Hi,

Sydneysiders get their last change to watch analogue TV tonight.

Melbournians follow suit next week.

Only a few, low power transmitters in the NT will remain after that.

According to ABC radio this morning, about 5% of Sydney's TV watchers have
not made provison for the switch off.

So maybe 150,000 will get a surprise on Tuesday after 9.00 AM.

FYI:

See article and pic of one of the restored Morris OB vans used by the ABC to
cover the 1956 Olympics in Melbourne & Sydney.

Or find better things to spend their money on.

Given the crap programs and the carnage on aerials from fat white
cockatoos, I can not be bothered doing anything once the current STB dies.
I know of at least six(?) free online news sources with imagery, so that
is the news covered.

Obviously you haven't seen the following:

Grimm (Rather delicious sense of humour in this one)
American Horror: Coven (This has to be one of the best
horror/supernatural shows ever screened)
The Walking Dead
Homeland
Supernatural
Most of the docos on SBS
Big Bang Theory
Breaking Bad

I also don't mind (but I don't panic if I miss):

CSI: NY
Blue Bloods

Mind you: You can download most of this stuff anyway. Still, there is
some pretty decent FTA programmes right now (before the Christmas dead
period).

They can shut down the digital transmitters as well, for all I care.

But then Demtel, Danoz et al would go out of business! :-O

I haven't had TV reception for about four years now, and each time I stumble
across a commercial FTA broadcast at a friend's house or elsewhere, I laugh
at just how huge the crud-vs-content ratio has become.

Strangely, "infomercials" (including the "daytime talk shows") are
classified as documentaries by the regulatory authorities, and many of them
also qualify as "local content."

Oh noes... :)

Indeed. I'm a bit unusual, in that I had pretty much given up on TV at
age 15 or so, back around 1980 (ABC and SBS excepted). Over time the
crud to content ratio has increased, that's for sure. I can't even
watch ABC or SBS any more. The constant and unrelenting wall-of-noise
(and visuals too) drains me.

LOL... just sad. I really shouldn't laugh about it though.

** That neatly reveals that your autistic brain cannot process either the
rapidly changing visual or audio content.

Most people enjoy watching TV for the information and entertainment it
offers - for next to no cost too.

The only people who do not are blind, deaf, very stupid or highly autistic
fuckwits.

Just like the Jebus troll.

Has anyone bothered plotting the degree of vitriol in Phil's responses
against time?

** There was nothing but simple fact in my post .

Not that a know nothing troll like you would recognise a single one of them
if it bit you.

still making your name as a tired old queen filthy ?

perhaps topping yourself would be advisable as the obvious path to
relief instead of sucking meat pipes as per your usual behaviour

I can process it if I really wanted to, but aside from my above
comments, it's just that it's not worth it as it's essentially all
vacuous lowest-common-denominator rubbish. Rapidly or slowly changing,
it's still garbage anyway.

I know they do. Because they're largely morons.

Oh. That made me so angry, I'm going to go punch the cat.

I wonder if there is a pattern.

I'd day the vitriol peaks when his mum is on dialysis all day and he
can't have sex with her.

Its the zimm fkickery that counts and not the information content these
days.

Yes, mostly all superficial dross and little substance.
I've also notice that SWMBO just ignores the TV after ABC news and
is content with computer games if she isn't doing one of here hobbies.

Sounds sensible to me :)
As I say, there is only so many times you can watch even the good movies
and most of them are getting into the teenager years of repeats.

So not a lot has changed with movies on TV then...

Perhaps, I'd have thought the dialysis would work as a tether & prevent
her escape, unless she is a willing participant of course............

All of which goes to at least partly explain Phallison's wonderful
personality...
