I am looking for a manual that came with early versions of this device.

Seems as if the DIP switches assigments differ from the actual version,
even the manufacturer hasn't any hardcopy or file.

Thanks - Udo

There are only so many permutations for that dip, you could try them
all. Isn't it merely an I/O port selector?

True., they're not that many configurations., I'd ask Hewlett Packard
they are the GPIB pros in my book, though if is a really old model they
may refer you to "Classic Computers" in Fairfield, IA. Tel. (515)
472-0383 [# dates back to 1993] - you just need to define your
application & hardware...I've got an old HP touch screen PC - I got the
books from them - they describe in detail the hardware/application Vs
dip addresses., but I'm not sure it's all 488 based to give you any more
data. Good Luck !

There is only a serial port connection between the device and the PC.

There are 3 dips with 8 switches each. The only thing i found out by
measuring the clock source for the UART is that the baudrate selector
has a coding different from the manual. So i was able to establish the
serial communication with the PC. The other thing i found out by a
status query is the selector between controller&peripheral mode and the
address if the unit itself, but it wasn't possible to communicate with
any external device. So there must be a secret setting that i didn't
find out or may be the device itself is defective...

Thanks for answering.

The device is not a plugin card for the PC...

Thanks - Udo
