I guess that's what you get for cheating and not shoveling coal like you're supposed to.. Just kidding, I love steam ships/engines, have been tending to one myself once.
Now, I'm not familiar with those starters & all that oil burner stuff but I'm sure we can figure it out and suggest something that would be prone to work.
If you can scan the tube diagrams that's a good start, and maybe a block diagram of the (complete) control system would be beneficial for understanding what's going on.
