Home alarm that sends alerts to a computer

I am looking for a wireless home alarm system that has the ability to
send alerts to a computer. I have a linux firewall that is always
online. If I can get the events to the computer (by any interface,
even serial) then I can create a web page to view the alerts and write
software to send me SMS notifications.

Ideally I would also be able to control the alarm also, but I'd settle
for just getting alerts.

If it uses Windows software I can probably decode the protocol and
write software for linux.

Cheers,
Chris.

Google "Video Server" on the Internet and you will probably find what
you are looking for already assembled for you including web page
and/or SMTP e-mail notification of alarm conditions.

These are used for security systems and most have contact closure
alarm inputs.

One particular model that I see for sale on eBay all the time is the
Axis 2400 (4 video input) or Axis 2401 (one video input) server. I
believe in addition to the input alarms is has a remote control output
relay for reseting alarms etc.

I've never seen just a relay contact closure server (without the
video), but it would be a good product.

Is this a product that you can purchase outright from ADT or do you
have to pay for their monthly monitoring service?

If you had to guess? What do you think the answer would be?

lol

I wouldn't imagine they would be willing to allow you constant access to an
ADT owned website without charging for it.

Ding Ding. See you knew way more about ADT than even you knew, or let on to
let us believe.
Just like AlarmNet. It ain't free. Nor is it free to dealers.
Glad you laughed.
