If it is the subject chassis the smd caps on both the pip and saw filter
have to be addressed. Hitachi has a updated parts list and specific
instructions for this repair. You sill spend some time doing the cleanup
from the original caps before actually replacing them with new components.

SUBJECT: THE SERVICE PROCEDURE FOR THE 3-LINE COMB FILTER IN THE AP-13, 14,
AP-23, 24 CHASSIS.

3-LINE COMB FILTER part numbers involved are:
2375231 (HC3020), 2375233 (HC3023), 2375234 (HC3024).

It has become necessary to change the servicing procedure for the 3-Line
Comb Filter in the subject chassis. It will be necessary for the 3-Line Comb
Filter to be serviced in the field, instead of replaced. If an order for
the 3-Line Comb Filter is received in parts, a repair KIT will be
substituted. The kit contains known capacitors that are most often involved
in the failure of the 3-Line Comb Filter. Please replace ALL capacitors
listed, this will assure the most reliable
repair for the 3-Line Comb Filter.

PROCEDURE: To facilitate the repair of the module, UNPLUG the set, remove
the back of the set, locate the 3-Line Comb Filter directly behind the
vertical stand-up P.W.Bs. Remove the two screws holding the chassis and pull
the chassis back and stand it up. Secure the chassis in the up right
position, exposing the bottom of the main chassis.

(Signal and Deflection). Unsolder the 3-Line Comb Filter and remove it from
the set. Then remove both shields. Utilizing the attached component location
chart, replace all capacitors listed.

REPAIR KIT PART NUMBER IS X480126
Please order this part number and not the 3-Line Comb Filter.

NO. COMPONENT VALUE
1 C 001 10uF
2 C 201 1 uF
3 C 217 1 uF
P/N 2375231 HC3020
P/N 2375233 HC3023
P/N 2375234 HC3024
If replacement of capacitors does not repair the 3-Line Comb Filter, please
call for Technical Assistance (1-800-393-2369).

Two types of capacitors could be received in the Kit. The 1st type is a chip
capacitor. The 2nd type is of the Lead type.

No problem.....

You can use regular leaded caps to replace those surface mount.....no need
to order "the kit" !
