Hello everybody,

I would like to repair my car stereo who has a faulty volume knob (it is also the power button).

I opened the thing and found that:

It is written "0552" and something like "HDK". Tried to google the stuff but I didn't find anything useful.
Can you help me identify this part? Where can I buy a spare?

Thank you!

hi there
welcome to EP :)

going to the manufacturer of the car stereo would be your best bet.
Its quite possible that the part is custom designed for them

So it is an encoder. That's a start.

quite possibly
but could still be a standard vol control. does it rotate continuously with soft clicks ?
ie. doesn't have a limited range of movement ?
if so, then pretty much guarantees its a rotary encoder

It does rotate continuously w/ soft clicks. It also has a push switch that come comes back when the pressure is released.

Nice find. If it's a dimensional fit, it'll probably work unless the problem lies somewhere else.

Yeah, that's pretty cheap, it worth the try. And I like doing this kind of stuff :)
