Hi guys. New here but hope someone can help me out.

I have a keypad that I want to send a string of numbers to with a star at the start and hash at the end.

The string will be sent from a PC via terminal I am thinking via usb or serial. The reason is to stop the need to manually enter the codes into the keypad with your finger.

I am wondering what I could use between the PC and keypad to know if the number 1 is sent from the PC, the keypad number 1 will be pressed (I need something that is hard wired to the keypad circuit number 1). Same for 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0* and #

Hope that makes some sense? Any help be great.

Thanks
Mark.

You don't want to 'send a string of numbers to your keypad' - you want to send them to whatever your keypad is connected to.

HOW is the keypad connected? Per button? X/Y grid (commonly), 4x3 grid, 4x4 grid? Pull up resistors or scanned?

So...

Hope that makes some sense....

Nope....:D

The clean way to do this is to build a USB keyboard device using a micro.
