First Alert System Problem

We've had our system for about 18 months with absolutely no issues. The
system was installed by the previous owners. We had no issues
reprogramming, etc etc.

Now all of, during the evening only, our system makes a small noise
(basically the same sound as pressing a key on the keypad) every 2-3
minutes. It's not a consistent period (sometimes slower, sometimes faster).
It may happen during the day, but since I work from home, I would think I'd
hear it.

Has anyone experienced a similar problem?

Thanks for the idea... Our smoke detectors are hard wired though..... At
least they appeared that way when I opened them up.

If you have smokes that were installed by the builder (not the alarm
company) they can be both\ hardwired and have a small battery.

take off the cover and replace the little backup battery. it has one most
do as a backup and that little annoying sound is the smoke telling you to

Seems like this is the problem... I turned the power off of the smokes, and
they beeped again. I will get net 9 volts and see if it helps.

did the same thing ever happened to any of our client??

they call in for service cause the damn keypad is beeping all the time just
to realize when the tech is there that it was the pager or cell phone or
wireless phone or the old smoke detector that got removed when the wired one
was installed...and so and so...that are beeping

I even got a woman telling me over the phone that the pir was doing a phone
like sound every few minute... was her friend cell that was in forgotten
coat of a visiting friend that was calling her cell phone like mad in hope
to find it back....

was a blast at the company Christmas party later on that year....
