Hi all,

I got an odd job from a mechanic friend of mine.
He own an ESAB A10-160 MIG welder.

The trouble he had in the welder is that the circuit
board part number 153681-001 was toasted.
Since this is an old machine, ESAB do not sell
replacement board for it.
To replace the welder would cost upwards of $1000.

Since the board seems to only contains discrete parts,
it should be easy to reconstruct one.
Trouble is, I do not have circuit diagram for the board
nor do I have any experience in fixing MIG welder.

Anybody can help on this matter?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Par,
if you are local to me, I live in Hornsby Heights.
You are welcome to bring the machine to my place
and we can work on it together. I am no expert but
electric welding machines is one of my pet interests
so I might be able to help you. No need to bring a
gas cylinder, I have one here.

This board that is faulty. I gather that the welder
is completely dead because of this. Is that correct?

If the main transformer and rectifier are OK we could
probably get it to work with perhaps less bells and whistles
than it had before, but useable, while you continue to
seek out a circuit.

John, your offer is very appreciated. We are
at Sutherland (the other end of the town). I will
discuss this with my mate and if he agree, we may
take up on your offer.

I guess so, the machine is not functional without this board.
If the main transformer and rectifier are OK we could
probably get it to work with perhaps less bells and whistles

seek out a circuit.
That may be the way to go. Again I will discuss this with my mate
and follow up with this.

I have written an email to ESAB, however, they have not replied
other than the auto reply acknowledging the query. I may be
banging my head againsts the wall asking them for help.
I suppose they are in the business of selling new equipment rather
than repairing old ones.

Hello P.
I assume that was http://www.esab.com that you wrote to. I tried
locally 9647 1232 Pacific Industrial Supplies. I was faxed a
rough/crude circuit that just shows wires connected to boxes
representing the board. No board details at all. That was for
model A10-160K. This model is for a three phase only.
Your model does not have the "K" on the end. Does your
machine need a three phase supply also? If so, then that
wipes out the idea of comming up to my place as I don't have
a three phase supply.

If you do not have a fax machine to get a copy of the rough
circuit from Pacific Industrial Supplies, I can post the fax copy
that they sent me, down to you.

Here is lead for you to check out down your way.
Bilba Industries 9545 2622. Ask to speak to their Technician
called John. He works part time for them so ask for his mobile
number. This chap works for lots of people and himself so he
may just be able to help you with a circuit diagram and board.

Hi Parmin,

Sorry I am new on this forum so I read your question just now.
Do you still has the proiblem with your ESAB A10-160K.
I worked over 20 years for ESAB so I have enough information
of the board so I can repair it for you.

Esab A10 wire feeder

Hi
Am presently repairing my old A10 (on a LCA 275 amp transformer ), wire feeder but do not have the circuit diagram. Kept blowing the 10 amp fuse, I think I have tracked it down to a tyristor but can't read the info on it.
Do you know where I could get a circuit diagram and parts catalogue. I have a manual but not detailed enough !

Hi Bobbes

I have a PCB for a MEC 30 optimatic which is dead
All supply to the PCB is ok but it seems like the DC for the electronics is dead.
Do you have any idea what components to tjek?

Thanks in advance

Hi Morten, without any detailed information it´s not simple to inform you what´s wrong with your PCB. Inspect all the dc powerlines on the board + and - 15 Volts.
If nessesery I can repair the board for you.
