Hello-

I know that a similar thread was previously posted to this group
(http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=...&[email protected]#link1),
but the last posting there was in 1999. I am assuming with the
passing of the years both companies have upgraded there systems
somewhat (new hardware, software, etc.).

I would like to get everyone's opinion on what system you feel is a
better choice (particularly for a Do-It-Yourselfer) and why. I am not
interested in other panels (i.e. Caddx, Napco, etc.).

Also, I am planning to purchase the system from A&E Security
(http://www.aesecurity.com) and would like to know if anyone here has
purchased from them in the past and if so, how was the service,
support, etc.

If you haven't used A&E, do you have any suggestions for an online
dealer that will sell to DIYers?

Thanks for all your help!

If you're considering the 832, I'd suggest you also look at the 864. Both are
panels with a "plethora" of features - and more importantly, programming is a
"snap" to learn. Ademco products are a bit more "involved" when it comes to
programming. Both panels (with a little patience and a couple of
"read-throughs" of their manuals) are excellent security panels. Of the two
types, the 832/864 may be a bit more flexible when it comes to incorporating
additional features (like intercom, for instance). They also can utilize X-10
for some basic home automation.

I don't have any dealings with A & E Security so I can't help you there...
Unlike another online store (whose owner participates here) no one's ever filed
a complaint about them in the group. Good Luck!!
