DIN Cable with Pioneer RT-707

I'm using a DIN Cable for the first time instead of RCA connectors. Plugged the DIN into my Pioneer RT-707 then into the back of my Pioneer SX-950 receiver. When I tried to monitor the recording I was getting sound on sound using the monitor switch of the RT-707. How do I avoid this or is it not possible to monitor your recording while using a DIN cable? Also, where does the output of the tape deck now go? I had it set to Tape 2 while I was using RCA cables. Very confused.
