Does anybody know the difference between an optocoupler and a Solid
State Relay?

Thank you very much!

Kind Regards,
Matías

Opto-couplers are "generally" designed to transfer and isolate lower power signals.
SSR's are "generally" designed to allow lower power signals to be isolated from, and switch high power devices.

The last one is a special version of the first one.

Why should there be a difference? most that I know of integrate a
opto-coupler for isolated control of the solid state switch.

In other words, consider a SSR having a optocoupler in it.

An SSR typically carries heavy loads and likely incorporates an
optocoupler and possibly also zero-voltage / current switching
circuitry.

An optocoupler is a low power device designed simply to galvanically
isolate a control input and output.
