Did you listen to Gunsmoke on Radio?

Yep.  And "[email protected]" is just trying to be obnoxious to hide his
ignorance.

I am doing no such thing. Art Bell got me through many a late night
shift, and the Nearly Famous Barry Young through many a bleary
morning.

Besides, I thought you had white-listed me...

My ringtone on my phone is Kirk yelling out at Khan in from Star Trek
II: The Wrath of Khan. I remember when I first put it on and it rang at
work. Everyone was "What the hell is that?" I had to explain it to some.
My ring tone for my wife is The Wicked Witch's theme from The Wizard
of Oz. I don't have to explain it. ;-)

I like WSM in Nashville. It's on 650 AM. There is an over
modulated, poorly run swing & big band radio station on 640 AM ten miles
from me. It is in a straight line, so it can't be nulled out.

Poxy hell, Overmodulation DOES NOT extend range nearly as much as it
annoys listeners, particularly for that genera of music (Way too much
dynamics in the original, any attentive listener would notice). Poorly
run is a gross understatement.

I think you may misunderstand the differences between the (vanishing) DX
type and the person who just wants this, that, or the other program
material.

Real DX'ers are all about that fabulous catch. I have two of my own;
early on about 1968 or so, in San Jose, CA I caught repeatedly for about a
week an Arizona FM station (about 500 miles). I figure it was a freak
E-layer enhanced tropo-layer bending shot. So not repeatable.

The other was getting KKHI AM from San Fran in Bremerton WA in the dead of
winter, i had to drive west a bit for best reception, but getting a little
bit of "home" was a huge attraction.

Call me an one time opportunistic DXer, still both are fabulous catches.

I once received a California station on 1660 from Panama City Fl.
It was soon after the AM band was extended to 1700, and there weren't
many other stations to interfere.

WTF? Why did that post twice?

Oh well. I also wanted to mention that I'm not quite old enough to
have listened to Steve Allen's start on KFYI (though I certainly
remember him on the Tonight Show- one of my few clear memories from
age four) or a radio version of Gunsmoke, which I remember the TV show
going from B/W to color when I was 14.

I'm not quite as grown-up as some regulars here; this is only my
60th winter.

I listen to music at home... I have a 300 CD "jukebox" ;-)

We don't drive a lot.... 65K on the 2005 Q45, 33K on the 2001
Pick-em-up truck.

...Jim Thompson

I overflowed that jukebox some time ago. Soon i will be able to put it
all on a 256 GB SSD, plug that into car stereo and it is all music, or
plug in something else and listen to audiobooks on long drives. And more
choices are becoming popular and thus easy.

Hi. I'm trying to relisten to a specific episode, but don't remember the name, in which a guitar player plays "Home on the Range" and Kitty says it's a bit sad-sounding, but she likes it. Can anyone help me? Thanks.

I remember hearing that program, but have no idea about the number of
the episode. I'll do a little searching later when I have more time.
Try sending an email to the 3 station that play the old programs.
