My dad was an electronics guy and kind of a hoarder, and he recently passed away. I've been trying to clean out his house and have found quite a few things I can't identify. Would it be possible to post photos of these items here and maybe someone could tell me what they are, what they are used for and if they are still used or worth anything? I'm fairly certain something will be interesting to someone.

I think trying to identify parts is our favorite past-time here.
And let's not knock hoarders, ... a lot of us gather here to feed.
Please post your pictures.

Not knocking them, just giving background as to.how he might have something and I wouldn't have a clue what it is.

There's a lot of stuff but the things I am asking about are more like tools or test equipment than parts. First one- it says Portable Scaler Troxler Laboratories on top.

My husband says this is an oscillascope(?) And apparently there are several of them here, they all look different, and knowing the name means nothing to me. What are they used for, are all of them used for the same thing, and are they still being used for anything?

Was he in the army or something? Most of these devices are not something most modern day electrical engineers would have access to.

Correct that is an oscilloscope. they are used to read changes in voltage over time. it can also read different types of signals. It show if an electrical circuit is working correctly. If it works oscilloscope there is probably pretty valuable

1. It's safe to be around right?
2. Is it worth anything?
3. WTH, Dad?!
I would expect it to be safe to be around. Its probably pretty valuable but im not sure who would be able to make use of it.

He was in the Army back in Vietnam. I was assuming he picked this stuff up at yard sales and things more recently. We have found an old xray machine, a machine to adjust pacemakers, and something to trimake the horns on cows too, and made the same assumption. He wasn't a doctor or farmer. But maybe so.easy of this is from his military days.

Your husband is correct. They are used to measure electrical signals and yes they are used very much today. Can you take some pictures of the other ones you have. The first one you posted can you see any name badge or label?
Thanks
Adam

Thank you. I'm sure some of them work. I should plug them in and see. I have to wait till I'm back home to post more pics, my husband reminded me we are low on data.

The front has a metal badge that says 'T912 10MHz storage oscilloscope'. The back has some lable or badge on it that I will get a pic of and post tonight.

It powered on, a light is blinking and it sounds like Doc Brown fired up the Flux capacitor or something but I still don't know if it works. I didn't consider that I don't know what it looks like when it's functioning properly or not.

I think I have other pics of the back of this one. Can I only upload one pix per post?
