Color rendering index

I have a homework question which to me looks silly. It asks if it's
possible to have light sources with similar color rendering indices
but with very different color temperatures. To me, it looks as if it
is possible, but the question seems irrelevant as the color rendering
index is useful to compare light sources of the same temperature.

What am I missing?

Nothing. From what I understand it, whoever posed the question
is looking for two light sources which give somewhat similar
colorimetric results, using different technologies and/or
spectral distributions. --

Thanks for the reply.

More than possible, it is very common, as one does not imply
the other. And, it's not actually as irrelevant as you
presume. Even if you are using lamps with very different
color temperature you may want them all to have high CRI. So
perhaps the goal of the question is to make sure the
students understand that CRI and CCT are orthogonal.
