Hey Rory, I could come down there and sit a hill with a pair of binoculars,
and a two way radio for you. I can send you messages via trained
pigeons...let me know, I think it would work. A couple of months R&D could
confirm it....

Get yourself a Bahamas Amateur Radio License and then look into APRS.
You could build yourself a system that reports your car's exact
location if your standard car alarm is tripped. And it will report to
every operator that's listening for it or can hear it.

country's.

The guy is an "expert" on wireless and above us "low level electricians" but
he's too stupid to type "aprs" in a search engine?

Don't tell him that the system is "muzzled" by his wireless headphones...

Hi, yep .. :)

Live tracking, history would be good also. There is no current GPSs
implemented here as yet, so we would need to be able to add our own or
purchased digital detailed map of the island.

thanks

Hi, yep :)

Live tracking, they want to see their vehicles where they are located
so they can track them and see where the drivers are. History would be
good also. Money is really not an option on this job, the owner has
numerous service oriented businesses with hundreds of drivers, and a
large amount of money to invest in this. We will need GPS, i imagine
we will need to buy a digital map of the island to add to the system
as there currently is no GPS in this country other than for boating
for reefs etc.

Thanks

Rory

Check out Polaris from CloserWorlds (www.closerworlds.com)...

GPS tracking for vehicle, people, cell phones over GSM, GPRS. Uses an
XML web service, supports various mapping software including MapPoint
and OziExplorer, is hardware independent, supports data in multiple
languages and can be adapted by programmers.
