objective such as your intent or question. Amazing how much
information is 'hidden' when using a signal generator and a scope if
you don't know what to look for. Also useful is a pulse generator or
square wave with the scope.

Can't a signal generator make a pulse? What does a pulse generator do

The single pulse would be very narrow. Ideally, it contains all
frequencies. A signal generator typically creates a constant output
waveform at a constant frequency. Some only output sine waves. Others
might ouput square waves, triangle waves, etc; some with varying duty
cycles.
