generally not recommended ?
Thanks.

Smokes... NOT, heats sensors like 190 degrees or higher depending on how
hot it gets up there are recommended.

There's a couple of problems with putting Smokes up in an attic Dave. Number
one, they're electronic, so putting them in extreme temperatures wouldn't
make them last very long. Second thing is, it's not a controlled
environment, so things like dirt, dust, bugs, etc., would also play havoc on
them, creating a lot of false alarms. Heat detectors on the other hand,
contain no electronic parts, and do not detect dirt, dust, bugs, etc., just
heat. Generally speaking, without knowing where you live, 190 degree fixed
temperature heat detectors usually get installed in attic's.
