Are there any (solder through) connectors with 4 pins and 8mm spacing between each pin (see screenshot below). It's to be used on a PCB design from the early 80s so I don't know if it was a standard back then, if soldering pins or direct soldering of the wires to the PCB was assumed, or something else. I prefer a Molex type connector or something.

I did find some photos online (sorry, I don't know where -can't find them again) of someone building the same project, and some sort of connectors have been used there. Does anyone recognize what types these are?

Good suggestion! I assumed those were only 0.1", but indeed -Molex also comes in 0.312" (7.92mm) connectors which seems to be what I'm looking for.

The challenge is finding somewhere they sell only one and without a hefty shipping fee. I can't seem to find anything with a 7.92mm pitch on eBay. Also, it doesn't have to be a Molex (or similar design) but some sort of suitable 4-pin connector for this purpose with the same pitch.

I'd Google the Molex part number that you found to see who sells it.
If that didn't work, I'd Google the connector pin spacing and see who else makes something suitable.
It can be a pain sometimes looking for specific parts, but that's the way it is.

I finally found Farnell selling a suitable 8-pin connector (I still need to remove every two pins to make it fit):

JST B8PS-VH(LF)(SN) connector header
JST VHR-8N connector receptable
JST SVH-41T-P1-1 crimp socket
