Hi,

I'm looking for guidelines or best practices in designing a 220v input for a PCB.
I thought about things like required board thickness, power lines thickeness, dissipation requirements (not sure if related).

Any input will be appreciated :)

Thanks,
Niv

Depends on what currents are involved, obviously keep all high voltage and low control circuit as separate as possible and any ground planes should not be close.
There are charts available for general current sizing of traces.

Thanks for the quick response; I have looked it up - and found this trace width calculator.

Now, I have a conflict;

*On one hand*, from my specs (with saftey margins, see attached) it seems 18.7mm of trace (!!!) will be needed to accommodate my needs (20Amps, 50degC, ...). Even getting up to 3oz thickness - I still get to 6.25mm trace.

*On the other hand*, I use a 16 Amp relay, which its connectors are 5.25mm away.

2 questions:
1. Any methods to solve the above conflict?
2. The relay I use is DW311-D12HS manufactured by Dong Woo. For some reason I cannot find its spec online. Can this be a fake relay?!

Thanks,
Niv
