10" Home Sentinel black & white security monitor model:OS1001,year:Nov
1997,UL:6Z73,CSA #:LR10563.This unit has 4 camera input jacks (similar
to S-VHS inputs),RCA input jacks and a set of RCA output jacks.
The unit is still in the customer's business,he says that there is no
picture at all but the audio is present, the customer wants it repaired
as quickly as possible,so I want to be prepared when he brings it
in.Anyone have any common repair tips for no raster with present high
voltage?.
Thanks in advance.

Capacitors, the electrolytics, especially the high voltage low capacitance
ones. (1uf@160v, 3.3@300v and so forth).

Never worked on a Sentinel, mostly GBC and the off shoots but it's easily
90% of the problems. The remaining 10% is probably the flyback, HOT, the
stick diode for the transformer.

The "Home Sentinel" doesn't sound encouraging but most industrial type
security montiors have all the parts spread out well for heat and use really
simple circuits, few ic's.

The bit of concern would be the 4 inputs, if the monitor just switches
between the 4, no big deal. If it does a quad picture with a mode that shows
all 4, that itself could be the problem and a nightmare. Those are rather
complicated digital conversion boards and are best swapped out with a new
one from the manufacturer. Most can be bypassed to see if the problem is in
the logic or the main chassis.

But start with the oddball electrolytics, they are the hardest working parts
on board and will generally cause the no-video symptom.
