RS Components, a UK-based supplier of electronic components and other electrical, automation, control, and test equipment is now stocking the 4ZeroBox, the hardware component of TOI's 4ZeroPlatform, a plug-and-play system for the gathering, processing, and reporting of data that is designed to optimize key IIoT (Industry 4.0) processes such as smart manufacturing.
The 4ZeroBox Modular IIoT Unit
The 4ZeroBox is a modular IIoT unit created by TOI that can be into both modern and legacy industrial equipment, allowing for both new and old industrial machinery to be integrated with sensors, actuators, and cloud services to make it compatible with Industry 4.0.
It is based on a 2.4GHz Espressif Systems ESP32 microcontroller and has 4MB of flash memory. It also comes in a DIN-rail mountable case and supports WiFi, Bluetooth, Ethernet, LoRa, CAN, SD, JTAG, I2C, SPI, and others.

The 4ZeroBox is the hardware component of TOI's 4ZeroPlatform, the Zerynth-powered plug-and-play data gathering, processing, and reporting solution. Those who purchase the 4ZeroBox also get a Zerynth Virtual Machine premium license enabling Python or hybrid C/Python programming with a built-in compiler, debugger, and editor alongside a small knowledge base and example projects.
Also included is a one-year subscription to TOI's 4ZeroManager, their cloud-based or on-premises device management service with its own web interface for remote monitoring and updating of connected devices at scale.
Wide Industrial Applications
As you may have figured out, 4ZeroBox is expected to have potential applications across a huge range of industrial and non-industrial areas. Smart manufacturing lines, agriculture, industrial refrigeration, waste management, logistics, gas and oil, energy and utilities, smart homes and buildings, retail… the list is endless.
Thanks to its versatility, 4ZeroBox and the wider 4ZeroPlatform can be adapted to virtually any industrial context.
Things on Internet (TOI Srl) is a Spanish company with a core focus on simplifying the design and development of IIoT applications. Headquartered in Pisa, the company was founded by four experts in advanced robotics and the IoT with over 15 years' experience.
