Maxim Integrated’s Precision Voltage Reference and Evaluation Kit: The MAX6078 and MAX6078EVKIT
The MAX6078: Features
The MAX6078 precision voltage reference has an initial accuracy of ±0.04% with a maximum temperature drift of 10 parts per million per °C, alongside a supply current of 15µA with a three-milliampere source or sink load current.
The product also provides a low-frequency noise (as low as 12μVPP, i.e. 12 microvolts peak-to-peak), as well as a filter option that’s installed to reduce the higher frequency noise. Moreover, the device has a variety of voltage options—namely 1.25V, 2.048V, 2.5V, 3.0V, 3.3V, 4.096V, and 5.0V—to cater to the user’s demands. These options include: 1.25V, 2.048V, 2.5V, 3.0V, 3.3V, 4.096V, and 5.0V.

The MAX6078EVKIT: Features
In contrast to the said MAX6078 Precision Voltage Reference, the evaluation kit for the MAX6078A uses both six-bump wafer-level packages and eight-pin surface-mount packages, in order to carry out evaluations for the relevant precision voltage reference series.
The evaluation kit, has an input supply voltage range of 2.3V to 5.5V; plus, it has multiple output voltage options, including: 1.25V, 2.048V, 2.5V, 3.0V, 3.3V, 4.096V, and 5.0V. The device also has the added advantage of having a proven PCB layout, and it’s fully-assembled and pre-tested to give the most accurate results possible.

Applications
Both instruments are highly accurate and robust, and collectively a valuable addition to the electronics industry—particularly in terms of both industrial and process control.
Alongside being used for precision instrumentation (in view of their high accuracy), the devices are also used in high-resolution analogue-to-digital converters and digital-to-analogue converters—which are in fact utilised by most industrial portable and handheld systems.
Considering the MAX607A and the MAX6078EVKIT in Tandem
Therefore, the MAX6078A (precision voltage reference) and the MAX6078AEVKIT (evaluation kit) are highly accurate and have a wide range of both voltage inputs and outputs. Plus, the MAX6078 precision voltage reference allows the user to produce a low-noise output of constant voltage; in fact, the product functions to produce consistent results—even when the temperature parameters and/or voltages fluctuate.
On top of the above, Maxim’s evaluation kit ensures the smooth operation of the MAX6078A and, again, measures multiple voltages throughout.
All in all, users can utilise the two products—not only as data converters—but also, of course, as valuable instruments when it comes to working with precision systems.
