Modern automobiles are powered by semiconductors: a typical vehicle may have as many as 100 or more electronic control units (aka ECUs) embedded in its systems, and these control the likes of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), transmission, infotainment, and the engine.
The 2 new automotive-compliant diodes, recently released by Diodes Incorporated, deliver superior power density and, in their compact DFN2020 package, only occupy up to 10% of the board space of similar devices that are offered in comparative packages.
These new products are just another addition to the wide portfolio of automotive-compliant products currently available from Diodes Incorporated.
With today's cars coming jam-packed full of electrical and electronic features as standard, it should come as no surprise that Diodes Incorporated and many of their competitors are currently quick to the market with new MOSFET devices.
About the MOSFETs
Designed to meet the stringent requirements of automotive applications, these MOSFETs are qualified to AEC-Q101 for high reliability and are supported by a PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) for full traceability.

Features of these MOSFETs include a rating up to 175°C (ideal for high ambient temperature environments); 100% unclamped inductive switching to ensure a more robust end application; low RDS(ON) to mitigate and minimise ON state losses; a 0.6 mm profile that makes them ideal for low-profile applications; and a PCB footprint of only 4 mm2.
The MOSFETs are 100% lead-free and compliant with RoHS, RoHS 2, and RoHS 3 standards. Furthermore, because they are also halogen and antimony-free, they are also considered to be eco-friendly.
Due to the devices' power density and performance, they are ideal in certain 'under-the-hood' automotive applications, such as ADAS, DC-DC converters, LED backlighting, telematics, power management functions, and infotainment.
As both the diodes have been greenlit for operation at temperatures as high as 175°C, they are all the more suited for almost any intensive automotive application.
