worked fine for years with light use the past few years then one day last
week wouldn't turn on. unplugged it for a few days with no luck.
fuses are good. replaced the 100uF cap and 14V zener diode with a 12V, both
as recommended in another post. I hear a faint click when set is plugged
in, but nothing happens with front power switch or remote control. HOT
resistance in-circuit C-E and B-C are good but B-E short (as I expected).
No burned components on boards and all solder joints look good.
I had been noticing over the last year that the picture is a little ghosty
with horizontal scan lines 2" apart and rising to the right and perhaps a
little bit green for the first few seconds at startup then looks perfectly
normal after that. Obviously this can be lived with I just want it to turn
on!
