I've noticed that after accessing the service menu, on most mid/late-90's
Zenith TV's, that the menu always come up when the set is first turned on.
Unplugging the set makes no difference. Is there anything I can do to stop
    this?

Turn off the factory service mode before exiting the service menu.

Tried it, but it doesn't seem to make any difference. I should mention that
it's the user menu, not the service menu, that activates on startup.

After exiting the service mode, the TV is now imploring you to
autoprogram it, even thought the channel lineup was unaffected. Just
locate autoprogram in the customer setup menu and let it rip.
