Birds have surprising powers in that area. Some humming bird chicks keep
the nest clean by firing up to 20 feet. A human with the corresponding
scaled-up power could defecate into low Earth orbit.

It would make an unusual entry for the X-Prize!

It sounds like there has been a misunderstanding. The U.S. is not a
democracy, but a republic. That's what the founding fathers intended, and
fortunately, that's the way it still is.

The founding fathers would have understood the difference to be
between the Roman republic, where policy was determined by debate
between representative senators, and Athenium democracy, where policy
was determined by debate at public meetings where every voter could
take part - a little impractical for any community larger than
classical Athens, which is presumably why the Venetians and the Dutch
had also followed the Roman model.

Athenian democracy is not the form of democracy your politicians
profess to favour (until push comes to shove) and your point is an
entirely frivolous exercise in pedantic sematics, if it isn't based on
your own misunderstanding.

OK, that's one plank.

That's just one feature of their declared position, which is "open borders".
Just look at what the "other" two say and compare
that to what they actually do. For all the good it has been doing the
INS might as well be eliminated, BUT that is not the point. Do you
really think that if the Libertarians were to control the House or
Senate that the first order of business would be that? Doubtful.
I would think the first order of business should be the elimination of
the taxpayer funded popularity contests known as the primaries.

I agree with that, at least the taxpayer-funded part of it. If a party
wants to hold their own popularity contest, with lots of resulting free
advertising on the news, let them pay the bill. That goes for Libertarians,
also, BTW.

Let's also eliminate othe party-oriented problems, such as the President-VP
"ticket", the extra pay and staff awarded to the Majority and Minority
Leader, etc.

It goes way beyond that.

where rich individuals cannot be captured and held to ransom... where
there are no more phony alibis in criminal trials... where no one can

It's going to take an hell of an argument to overcome that little lot

Yeah, and in 20 years' time, we'll all have them inserted in *us* by
order of the government. The political argument for so doing will be
incredibly hard to resist, I'm sorry to say.
Yes but it will mean work for electronic engineers ;-)
Both on the tracking and jamming site hehe.

Bitzer et al. at UIUC were working on a computer-teaching system czlled
Plato in the 60's. That was prototyped on time-share terminals, but spawned
off projects that led to the AC plasma display and the IR touch panel in
attempts to make the terminals portable. I was involved in followup work at
SAIC in the 80's incorporating those elements into military displays and
computers.

I'm with you there. If they want to spend their money, more power to
them, but I don't see why my bucks have to pay for their popularity
contests. It is just a way for their best (read most electable)
candidate to get on the ticket to increas the odds of a win. Not a bad
racket if you are a R or D, but unfair to any others. Any tax payer
funded perks that are awarded just because you are a R or D is down
right theft of taxpayer monies.

One line: no more war from the US :)

And such a system would be operated by the state, and nothing you see, hear
and percieve IS real.
(They'd prove you were on the moon and not at the crime scene, if they needed
it).
It will never work... it would be the end...

We had a terminal at the college.. Never got the GSW box to do music though.
It was fun, but I never saw anyone else use it.

Yes,the next time the European continent becomes embroiled in war, maybe the
US should stay out of it,leave you folks to fight among yourselves.

You certainly did so well in the Balkans, allowing genocide until the US
stepped in.

Just to shatter some small concepts you have about YOUR gov, when Milosevic
was testifying he stated that Clinton took him apart, and sort of suggested
to him that he should kill a couple of thousand muslims so INTERNATIONAL
INTERVENTION became justified.
I sort of believe this guy.
(There are news sources in the past confirming such a plot).
So, weapon test for the US and weapon sales.
Stop fucking about WW2, the Russians did much of the work, and any good you
did yesterday is of little value if you do bad today.
If you did not want to come, you should not have!

You would.Don't you think that a war criminal would say stuff like that in
an attempt to clear himself? How gullible are you?

Fact remains,Europe did not do anything on their own.
(They probably couldn't,they would not spend enough on their own
defense. They didn't have the capability to do anything, assuming that they
would even try.)

On the subject of DVDs in general, I agree - they are streets ahead of
the old tape systems, but I do have one criticism that I wonder if
anyone else shares; I find the dynamic range on the audio is far too
wide for my liking.
I've noticed that in almost all recent films: broadcast, VCR, DVD, or in
theater. Annoying.

Well, strange you call him a war criminal, while the US does anything it can
stop that court in The Hague that tries to convict him to a war-criminal.
Seems they are afraid their games will be exposed.

We are severely bothered by US ruled NATO.
There are plans for an independent European army, but US us so scared
it cries and cries, so we give them a few more month.

What nonsense, without Europe no CD no DVD, no Apollo (Von Braun),
no scientists (Homeland security does not let them in), no Dutch
cheese, no French wine, no Mercedes, no Rolls Royce engines, no
statute of liberty, and we were first with digital TV too.
We have more languages, better restaurants, well, list
is near infinite.
AND we have our own oil / natural gass.

It depends what we could get from the former USSR states, and how much
higher-cost residue we could afford to get from the North Sea. Probably
we could, but with fuel rationing.
