** That looks like a code number and not a regular catalogue part number,
like the SJ xxxx and SJExxxx numbers from Motorola for specially
selected transistors.

Is there a maker's logo ?

It is out of some very old piece of gear ?

You know all this but elect to keep it secret just to make it harder to help
you ?????

Hi Phil et al,

1) No logo

2) It is from some old HP gear. The HP part number is 1855-0020, did a web
search and found a cross ref which identified the SFE part#. i don't have
any hp bench briefs to look through to find it

3) Learn something everyday, didn't know the sfe may be a special as opposed
to a standard part number. Having said that the cct is a sample hold and
uses two, one to switch to sig the other to gnd, so i expect they are
matched pairs.
My equivalents books indicated SFF and other SF* parts so I expected it was
a part number. Checked caps xpert cd reference library, and some online
sources such as freetrade etc but to no avail.

Cheers
Greg

** I did a Google search and turned up the same HP number.

You do not even have a sample of the SFE 793 device - you only have the
secretly marked similar HP one.
