Would this simple circuit work?

    Would this 3 pin rocker switch work without the 3rd pin connected to anything? So if i flicked the switch up the LED would come on, but the switch wouldn't turn anything on. Thanks guys :)

    well, for a start, the switch and battery has to be connected to some other circuit

    for us to help you more, we need to know more about the switch and its contacts .... do you have a link to a datasheet or similar ?

    You could be shorting your battery with that.
    It's possible you have a switch like this which is on from left or right and off in the middle.
    You can test it with a meter if you have one.

    If the LED is built into the switch bezel, it usually has separate pins. Photo?

    LED, not Battery :D
