Only charge 500.00 dollars for a two keypad, one exterior strobe, two
interior siren system with 40 door and window contacts?

Sure, why wouldn't they? ADT will do it, I'MA Loser Authorized Dealer will do
it, Happy Go-Lucky Local Alarm Co will do it. Fred & Bertha Mom and Pop Alarm
and Lottery Tickets will do it, Slimy LLC, DBA Trunk Slammer Alarmco, will do
it.

What's your point?

Make sure you get a yard sign...;-)

New to the industry, wanted to see if this was part of the realism. I
priced the job at 2400, thought it was a fair price.

Installation of 500 might sound good, but was there a stipulation for a
signed contract for 5 years at 60$ a month is the question. The highest
price I have ever heard is $65 from Brinks and that is because the customer
needed 90 windows, 10 smokes and 3 keypads. The customer didnt want to pay
for an installation so the 65 was said with a smaller installation fee like
the 500 mentioned. Didn't find out more once i heard 65 a month.

For that cheap, they are probably offering a leased system. They maintain
ownership and you pay for 5 years or according to contract.

I was awarded a couple other parts of the job including the structured
wiring, intercom, and central vac. I told them I couldn't touch Brink's
price, and I wasn't going to try. I'm going to talk to them some more
because there a nice family, and I want them to fully understand what they
may or maybe not getting.

Was the wiring to be done during construction? If so, that price is
certainly not out of line, as long as the monitoring rate and term of
contract are reasonable. One problem with Brinks though...it's
probably a lease.

No such thing as a "fair" price

It's always a lease. When are you coming up here to do a few installs? Damn
Texans, never want to do a lick of work :)

Hey, I'd love to retro 40 windows per job at $50 per window. Problem
is in Dallas, the birthplace of both Brinks and Monitronics, you can't
convince many customers to do much more than the "3 doors and a
motion" deal. When they can get that for less than $100 up front and
$24.95 per month, it's tough to convince them that a full perimeter
plus motion and glass break sensors as backup is worth a couple of
thousand dollars more.

If you want to come down here and sell 'em, I'd be happy to put'em in
;-)

Dozens of companies do it every day in Dallas/Ft Worth and in every other
city in the US. I work for Monitronics and while we do have many
installations with 3 doors and a motion we have MANY more doing much more
than that
