Working temperature range of CF Lamp

We are using a CF lamp in our Refrigerator which keeps the temperature
at 4deg celcius. The CF Lamp get fused very frequently (that is within
1 year or so) In the equipment the light switches on only when the
door is opend so the 1 year life is very poor. So what could be the
reason? any body help please.

If this is a regular home fridge , it may be because the lamp isn't on long
enough to operate correctly.Short cycling of CFs is hard on them.
I have to ask WHY put a CF in a fridge? I pay $5 for a CF, so the payback
would be 20=25 YEARs considering the hydro it saves vs. a 15W regular bulb.
Hey, I'm all for saving money, but I can't figure this one out!

Too many turn ons. Every time you turn on a CF lamp, subtract 5
minutes from its lifetime.

GE do some ESLs that are designed for frequent switching, but they are
more PAR shaped and more expensive.
