Does anyone know how to make a wireless sign.
Should work the same way as wireless door bell.
Push button return switch sends a signal to the sign.
Both the push button and the sign should be wireless.
However the sign is 300mm long X 70mm high X approx 50mm deep.
Led would be nice, been told its expensive so ideas please.
Need to tell you I know nothing about electronics.
Maybe thats evident, give it a go anyway.

The push button does what? Turns a lighted sign on and off? That is fairly simple and could be done by a using a repurposed wireless doorbell.

Which power supply do you envision, mains or batteries?
What are the power requirements (Volts, Amperes, Watts)?
Do you need momentary action (sign on only while pushbutton is pressed) or permanent action (pressing the button once turns the sign on, pressing the button again turns the sign of)?
Do you want to modify an existing sign or will you build a new one?

Tell us a bit more about your project. It probably is feasible with not too much effort (at least rearding the electronics), but lack of information is no good basis for support

Look on Ebay for "wireless remote control". These are inexpensive and will do the wireless part of what you need. Are you capable of hooking up the power source, the lights and the relay that is the output from the wireless receiver? We can help with that, but you need to answer Harald's questions.

Hi Harold
Thanks for gettin in touch.
Power supply is via batteries 9 volts perhaps.
Im limited to approx 60grams in weight.
The push button return switch should light the sign for approx 5 seconds, then the lights should switch off the sign.
This is a new project, the sign casing I can have made its just the electronics Im havin the problems with.
Hope this gives you a better idea.
Cheers Kieran

A little 9V battery won't light many LEDs for very long. How many LEDs will the sign include and what battery life-time are you hoping for?
Since you mention weight, are you intending to fly this sign on a plane/drone? If so, check that it isn't illegal.

Doesnt have to be LED, can be any type of light.
Needs to be cheap as poss but expect to last as long as doorbell would.
Maybe can have extra voltage.
Need advice on subject.

If you just want to light it momentarily, using the guts from a wireless doorbell might be just the thing.

What range do you need for the wireless link?
Does the sign have to be fairly evenly illuminated over the whole 300 x 70 mm area, or in just a few spots? Back-lit or front?
What is your budget for this project?

Evenly lit.
Need push button to send signal up to approx 4metres in distance to sign.
Seen switches on ebay as you advised but really I dont know about these things.
Need guidence, totally.
Budget, well how much will it cost.
You will know better than me what is needed etc.

Sign should be evenly lit.
The whole of the front of the sign only should be lit.

To light a 300 x 70mm area evenly is going to take some doing, especially if front-lit. Where would you place the light source(s) so that they don't obscure the message on the sign?
Couldn't you use a back-lit translucent sign?

Hi.
Really struggling with this but need to get it done.
Went to Maplins to get parts you suggested, they can sell me some parts but then what.
I need someone to build the unit.
