wikipedia on differential amplifier

take a look at wikipedia's long-tailed pair diagram under the
differential amplifier listing:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Differential_amplifier
I think they have the inputs labeled backwards.
I went to the discussion page, and somebody had pointed this out, and
somebody responded "the gain is negative by convention." Is that
true? It's not how op-amp inputs are labeled.

** Why ?

Read the caption for the diagram:

" A long-tailed-pair (LTP) differential input stage with current-mirror load
and constant-current drive used in discrete VFB amplifiers." ( VFB =
Voltage Feed Back )

See the arrow labelled " to next stage" - so is NOT the output, another
stage exists that will invert the signal polarity before it becomes the
output.
