Hello,

You could try to make a tone detector using the LM567.

My daughter bought a "keys finder" whistle detector. It was triggered by almost any sounds and was useless.
This very simple circuit will probably do the same and even be triggered by its own beeper.

I like the LM567 Tone Decoder idea, but I doubt that a simple thing like that will really be very reliable. (Of course if you're in a special managed environment like a stage and you can turn on a switch when you want to demonstrate the gadget it'll seem to work fine.)
You might be having fun, in which case a pulsed tone detector might be the next level of sophistication to which you might aspire. Or maybe you could make and detect a warbling whistle. :)
