hi all...

well i am very happy that best Buy has a good return policy, as I am
turning in their Insignia for another tv.

in the 27" size, they have

---samsung txr2735

---jvc av27w36

---philips 27pt5445/3

---sharp 27f541

and a larger toshiba, the 27af45....maybe it looks better than the
eyestrain model.

All have componet video, all are 27 "

I wonder which has the better picture for all i do with my tv, play
console games and watch a few dvds
AND last a few years!

thanks...freestone

Why dont you go an View them ,then YOU can then
make the decision to which one has the best picture
How do you think that someone on here can do that for you.

yikes

oh i was just wondering more about the quality of the engineering,
mostly!

i can see the sets all in a line, all set up so over contrasted and
overbright, on the shelf at the store, but what about the inards that
lie within?!

According to CU, the most reliable sets are (in order from most reliable
to least)

Sanyo
Sharp
Toshiba
Sony
Phillips
Panasonic
JVC
Samsung
Zenith
GE
RCA

Sharp looks like the best bet from a reliability point of view

Good return policy!?! Best Buy is well known to have one of the worst. Some
stores charge a 15% restocking fee on everything. If you're a member of
Sam's Club or Costco, check there for a good 27" TV and you'll save quite a
bit over Best Buy. Even Walmart at least has a 90 day return policy and will
be cheaper than Best Buy.

Look at them at the store and decide which one looks best. Don't forget
to adjust the brightness and contrast correctly, it's never anywhere
close when you take the thing out of the box and the best sets will look
like crap if not set up right.

IMHO, Toshiba make very good TVs. My personal TVs are a Toshiba 40" RPTV and
a 32" CRT model. Both are 100Hz scan models, which IMO makes a huge
difference to the old brain, but that's down to personal tolerance. I also
play games and find it very relaxing on both TVs.
