Extremely sorry and emabarrassed.

I posted a similar question to below yesterday, but accidently wiped
the reader. Too many late nights (working).

Would anyone who replied please cut and paste their answer?

I am looking for recommendations for the 40 or so linear, CMOS and
74HC IC's which are most frequently used in signal generation and
processing applications.

IOW the ones to have on hand. We don't do micros, display, broadcast,
video or power amp circuits.

Again, my humble apologies.

Hi John,

Here is my post again. BTW, you can look up, search and find older posts
on Google. Just use the "advanved group search" and it'll find pretty
much anything. Here goes:

My preference for logic is the CD4000 series. Often decried as
"antique", nothing beats their frugality in power consumption. They also
offer a wide tolerance in supply voltage, no need to regulate much
here. Get some of the chips with whatever logic you plan, but don't
forget a good Schmitt inverter such as the 40106. You can make almost
anything from these.

Opamps: Throw some LM324 in there. Low power, dirt cheap, common mode
goes to ground which is very helpful for single supply apps. My rate of
usage of the LM324 in designs is probably above 50%, mostly because they
are such a bargain.

Don't forget discretes. Besides the usual array of caps, resistors, PNP,
NPN, I'd add a couple FETs that are pretty good allrounders. Examples:
BSS123 (n) and BSS84 (p). Then get a few LMV431 so you can create a nice
stable reference when in need of that.

But hey, doesn't Fedex serve your area? At least one of their ads said
they'd go to the North Pole if they had to. It is easy to restock via
mail these days, from Digikey, Mouser, Newark etc.

Regards, Joerg.

with the free agent reader you can unsubscribe to this newsgroup then
resubscribe and all the messages will be back as long as your isp still has the
message on their news server. Or get them at

Also, all the readers I've used though I'm not sure about microshaft
(who is?) have the ability to pull all headers as well as new
headers only.<snip>

That's a silly question. The answer is obvious...the ones you need.
It's like asking me what food you should have in your fridge.
Different people prefer different ICs just as they do food.
Asking us won't help you much. You probably wouldn't be happy with
what's in my fridge.

Having said that...I suggest you stock GAL20V8, PIC16F877A and be done
with it. If it can't be done with a pic and a (bunch of)20V8, it don't
need to be done ;-) ;-)
Pick a much bigger/newer one if you have the development tools.
My choice is influenced by the fact that I have a lifetime supply of 'em
and the development tools.
YMMV...heck you might not even be able to buy 20v8s any more, but the
point is the same.
