Which do I choose

I have the choice of mono-crystalline or multi-crystalline solar panels at
virtually the same price.

Which is the better choice?

Thanks for the help, difficult to get un-biased information from those
selling the equipment.

My understanding is that the mono-crystalline are slightly better
when it comes to efficiency. If you are purchasing them by wattage
this means the mono-crystalline will be slightly smaller. In the
real world, I don't think there is enough difference to matter.

you got it!

btw, amorphous don't degrade over time (it's all at the beginning, and are
supposed to degrade to rated power) and are supposed to be temperature
insensitive (not lose power as temp increases).

I think you mean polycrystalline, not amorphous.
Amorphous do have a limited life expectancy.

Ok, it was Unisolar that told me this. Maybe they have something special.
They said all the degradation is upfront, shortly after being put into use,
and that they are spec'd for the degraded value, whish stays steady
afterwards.

A high percentage of amorphous panels are not lasting ten years, and many
are failing after five.

If amorphous are mounted flat and water pools the panel life can be less
than twelve months.

Warranties are next to impossible on amorphous panels they have so many
excuses and loop holes to get out of replacing even pro-rata warranty.
