Where can I buy those metal stickers that cover EPROM windows (to prevent UV-erasing)?
I was hoping eBay would turn something up, but maybe I'm just using the wrong search terms....

Unless you're planning to leave the EPROM out in the sun, paper stickers (or no stickers at all) should be fine.

Do you want metallic stickers for that cool look, or something else?

No, because that's what we used back in the day and I assumed it was to make it impossible for any light to penetrate unlike paper stickers.

And yes, it does look cool ;)

I have a few EPROM stickers left from the mid 80s which appears to be some metallic golden stuff, so I'm hoping to find something similar. If I hold it up to a light source I can't see anything pass through.

No offence, but that eBay auction for those stickers appears to be some useless old junk judging by the photo. The glue probably won't even stick (it said it's from the 60s-70s).
Perhaps I should just buy some of that metallic tape and cut my own if this kind of thing is no longer available.
Just how light-proof does it have to be?

Not very. The EEPROM requires short-wave ultraviolet light to erase data. Even thin paper will absorb those wavelengths.

Look up "copper foil tape adhesive" on eBay. It looks like it could do the trick nicely. I've seen it in a lot of widths 3mm, 6mm, 20mm, 50mm, 100mm,... 10mm would probably be ideal, but my brief look didn't show any.

Beware that there seem to be w wide range of prices for what seems to be identical products.

I didn't know paper stickers would be good enough for this. You live and learn ;)
Also that copper foil tape looks good, and with a suitable width it eases the cutting.
Problem solved guys! Thanks :)

It recently occured to me that the gold metal stickers I had been using back in the 80's (pictured earlier in this thread) were most likely write-protect covers for 5.25" floppy disks! Something which probably is just as hard to get hold of as floppy disks these days.
Metallic tape as suggested earlier will be good enough for the job, I'm sure, but the perfectly cut ones that came with a box of floppies will of course look better than something attempted cut straight with scissors ;)

I'm sure if you look in craft shops you might find little punches that will do this for you. Probably not the cheapest option though.

You can also buy rolls of small stickers. If be surprised if you can't buy small square metallic ones.

Hmmm... yes indeed something to look into!

You're probably right about the availability of suitably sized stickers (metalic ones), but I may have to settle for something with a cute princess or a football on it ;)
