I'd reccomend the book "Getting Started in Electronics" by Forest M. Mims
III. It was origionally published by Radio Shack, but I think they've
discontinued it. You may be able to find a copy online somewhere or at
your local library.
A couple of good sites are
www.epanorama.net, and discovercircuits.com.
Both are packed with tons of information.
Starting here in newgroups is a good place as well.
