What to do with a smartphone charger with a broken pin?

Hello,

I have a good quality smartphone charger, with one of the pins broken.
Normally I'd throw that, but since I started studying, I find it fun to handle electronics, and I'd like to know if there's anything I can do to fix it / convert it to a working charger again, without it being too dangerous to me or others using it.

The case of the charger is not openable, so to get to the charger's board, I'll have to cut the plastic case

Thanks!

My daughter had the same problem.
The connectors are unique to the mfgr, yes, you gotta cut open the case to get at it (IF, you can find a replacement), and then it's a bear fitting everything back together and resealing the case.
You can do it if you're a real do-it-yourselfer, but I just told my daughter to trash it and buy a new one.
Good luck

What 'pin' are you referring to? Most chargers have either a USB A connector on the body or a USB micro B on a cable or both.

Thanks,
I can't find it a matching case, and yes, it's one of the pins that goes into the wall socket

I have seen empty, pinned housings available somewhere. If you had one, you might be able to transplant the guts.

Like KJ6EAD said. If you've got room, save the guts in the event you stumble onto a similar dysfunctional unit.
Make a spare good unit out of two defective ones.
