My daughter has just purchased an older home in St. Petersburg, Fl.,
and wants me to install an alarm system. I am in North Carolina, and
my visit to her will only be for 2 days at the most. I have been in
commercial bank alarm work for years, and have not had any residential
experience in 15 years. I know little about her home, except that it
is single story, and I believe on a slab. Would a wireless system be
my best bet, considering the time constraints, few tools to work with,
and unknown construction? If so, what brand system should I consider
(purchasing from ADI or System Depot)? Which brand has the
transmitter/switch that can be inserted in the door jamb? Your help
    will be most appreciated. Thanks.

    Blythe:
If you're doing a full blown system in Florida, you're likely to need 2 days
even with wireless. Caddx makes a nice control, and it uses ITI wireless.
ITI makes the transmitters that recess. A friend of mine out here just
installed one, and he liked it. I've been looking at the Caddx/ITI system as
well. The programming doesn't look too bad, but I'd want to have that down
    before the actual install.
    Good luck!

    Mr. Bass said:

"If you like I could stop by and scope out the job for you on the way -- let
    you
know what I think will work".

Mr. Bass....are you offering your "ability, experience, science, knowledge,
    and skill
    to layout an alarm system"?

Consumer Beware...This person is not licensed in the State of Florida
    by the Electrical Contractors Licensing
    Board.

Check the following Better Business Bureau
    Site

If your family's security is important to you....find a reputable licensed
contractor in Florida by calling the Alarm Association of Florida at
1-800-899-2099. They can direct you to a licensed, alarm professional
    in your area.

Norman Mugford is a competitor ---------snip more
    drivel--------------------

    Question.
How can he be a competitor if you are no longer in the trade?
How can he be a competitor if he is a licensed security dealer in FL and you
    are not?

How, Mr. Bass can I be a competitor when I do not
    deal to DIY'ers.

Please tell me what is false about "You are not licensed
as an alarm contractor in Florida"?

Please tell me what is false about your "deplorable rating with
    the BBB".

Please tell me what is false about your "deplorable rating
    on this NG.

What is false Mr Bass is that you have been in the business
24 years and consider yourself retired.
