I have occasionally had TV's drop and slide all over the rear of my
van.
The floor is covered by a big sheet of chipboard,(particle board).
I have tried a piece of carpet, but found it difficult to slide unit
into van against the pile.

Any suggestions on what works well.

Thanks Mo.

soft or medium foam does nicely,

This will get instantly ripped up when pushing TV in or pullling it
out of van.

What we do for transporting TVs in van, minivan is best with original
or carpet covered floor. Full size van consumes too much fuel and too
big, too high to lift over. Minivans are perfect size and has
reasonable floor height.

Get old carpet samples from carpet outlets they comes in perfect size
appox 2' x 14' backing is immaterial. Jute, etc, no matter. I also
use them for putting TV on it's face and for LCD panels also.

When putting a tv in van, we put this carpet sample halfway on the
sill and original van's carpeting then put the tv on it. This sample
carpet serves as base to help you move the tv around but yet sit still
while driving. To prevent tv from flopping onto it's face, we use a
big, old thick couch seat with ratty covering still on. We put this
flat against TV's tube face and close the hatch to this.

This what we do this for 25" thru 36" CRT TVs.

So do you slide in the telly in a way that the offcut glides over the
original van floor?
Do you put the face of tv facing rear of van?
What stops telly from toppling rearwards?
14 feet sounds a bit long. Why is it so long?.And seems slightly
narrow.

Please excuse my ignorance. It's probably clear as a bell to you but I
almost got it.I think.
Oh and the couch seat.Would that be a foam one or a spring one?

Thanks for your advice Mr Wizard.

The couch foam seat is loose and still covered in cloth. We just sit
that foam seat upright on the van's floor against face of tv and close
the hatch on foam.

The minivan's floor is original carpet that minivan came with. The
carpet samples came from carpet stores. We use it for many uses and
use one in minivan to help us push the tv into van or pull tv out, the
tv sits on that sample. Doesn't slide on their own even with tv on
it.

Foam seat is very thick like 5" thick in shape of 2' x 2'

I gonna take a photo of that setup.
