You need to specify what kind of device you are thinking of. What it does, what kind of features.

Digital deviced can be very simple and very complex. A good start are microcontrollers.

 

there are so many devices out there using digital electronics.
microcontrollers offer a good start but even before that having a grasp on the fundamental basics is good. look at our tutorial section and go from there.
